Savvy shopper shares trick for unlocking supermarket trolley when you don't have £1 or a token

A savvy trick has been shared for unlocking supermarket trollies at the supermarket.

When you don’t have a £1 coin or a token to hand there’s no need to worry thanks to the tips of one smart shopper.

Sharing the tips on the Latest Deals, Extreme Couponing & Bargains Facebook group, they wrote: "If you don't have a pound coin or a trolley coin put two 20ps together & boom it will work."

But, before everyone runs to try the skill, there is a catch.

Our sister title Somerset Live reports that while some group members were keen to give it a go, others explained that they'd already tried - and the two coins had a habit of getting stuck.

One person wrote: "I was embarrassed in Aldi as I did this they got stuck and jammed and a manager had to come out to fix it, very very embarrassing."

While another said: "Tried this and it works but I couldn't get my 20ps back [it] jammed the trolley."

Luckily, there were plenty of other suggestions as to what you could use instead.

Somebody else wrote: "The key off corned beef tins work, used them for months now."

Apparently house keys also work a treat too, although at this point, buying a token seems like the most straightforward option.
