Savvy shopper shares energy-saving hack to block draughts with £1.40 item

With temperatures dropping and energy costs still a concern, many of us will be looking for ways to keep warm without turning on the central heating.

The cost of living crisis has forced many homeowners to look for more affordable methods to stay warm and cosy, such as wearing thermal layers and buying electric blankets.

And now one savvy shopper has shared how she manages to stop heat escaping through her door with the help of a bargain purchase from The Range. Jennifer Pickersgill took to the Extreme Couponing and Bargains UK Group to share how she picked up an Embossed Thermal Door Curtain to out block chilly draughts.

Sharing the home item to the Facebook page, the thrifty shopper shared snaps of the blush coloured thermal door curtain that promises to help you reduce your energy costs. The home item wasn't priced, but ended up scanning for just £1.40 at the till.

Thermal lined curtains have been recommended as an energy-saving method that can help you remain cosy in your home during the chillier months, as they can prevent heat loss and reduce the amount of times you use your central heating.

She wrote: "Not everyone's cup of tea but with energy bills on the rise (AGAIN) and the cold nights creeping in you lose a lot of heat through your front/back door so I decided to get door curtains to put up at night to keep the heat in.

"Decided to go to The Range to have a look and I found this thermal door curtain.

"Got to the Till... Scanned at £1.40!!

I"'ve put it up with a Net cable and 2 eyes so I can just take it down in the day time if I wish!"

The energy-saving hack was quickly met with nearly 4k reactions and hundreds of comments from shoppers who complimented the bargain, with many saying they swear by the tip.

"We’ve just put thermal door curtains up. They make a big difference", commented one shopper.

"We put a thermal curtain up last winter. It’s brill! Could definitely feel the difference we have just bought a new door now but we have kept the curtain up", agreed a second.

"I swear by this. Though to make it easier to get in and out the door, we have a curtain pole on the interior wall so it’s easy just to slide across. X", wrote a third.

"£1.40?! Bargain that is, will see if they’ve got any in mine when I go up", exclaimed a fourth.

"I wouldn't be without mine. Had it up for a few years. Honestly makes such a difference during the winter months. My door has a pane of glass and definitely keeps the heat in. Mine is on a curtain pole", wrote a fifth.
