Savvy mum's viral dishwasher hack saves time and leaves pots 'sparkling'

A mum has shared an easy dishwasher hack which she claims makes it easier to load pots and pans and leaves them sparkling every time.

You don't have to put them in the tray on the inside of the door when using pods in your dishwasher, according to one social media user. Rather, she recommends people chuck them in with your dirty dishes.

The woman, Reet-Regina Cabrera, 39, found out about the trick through a handyman and says that your pots will still be spotless after using the time-saving method.

The craft shop owner said: "The kitchen had just been remodelled and a repair man came to fix something else.

"He saw me loading the dishwasher and told me the best thing to do is throw the pod in the bottom - and that the little slot on the dishwasher door is only for liquid detergent."

She continued: "I tried it and nowadays I do it both ways - sometimes I use the compartment and sometimes I throw it straight in. It works just as well either way, but one way takes less effort!"

Reet-Regina shared the simple hack on TikTok - amassing almost 10 million views.

It got mixed reactions - with some people impressed with the hack, while others were left unconvinced.

One user said: "I started doing this and found less soap residue on the dishes when it's done!"

Another agreed: "This is how I've always done mine and it washes perfectly fine. I've had no problems, done it for years!"

But the 'hack' has caused controversy - with others saying this is ineffective. They claim the pod would be fully dissolved in the pre-wash cycle with none left for the wash cycle.

One warned: "Read the manual for your dishwasher and It will say to put them in the compartment!"
