Savvy mum's quirky rug cleaning hack gets amazing results

A savvy mum has shared a clever hack for cleaning rugs using her children's paddling pool.

Taryn Hunter filled her kids' pool with water and detergent and threw in the family's shaggy rug and was astonished to see how much muck came out of it.

After being impressed with her ingenius idea she shared pictures to the Facebook group Family Lockdown Tips and Ideas

Taryn said: "Got annoyed with my white shaggy rug and how dirty it was, pumped up the kids paddling pool, cold water, beat the rug, then threw in two bold pods in with the rug and walked around on it.

"This was five mins of walking on one side, going to let sit for 30mins - 1hr then walk on it again. Dry on the washing line."

The mum's post got more than 530 comments from other rug owners who were mostly impressed with the results.

One said: "Fantastic! I shall try this, saves time and me from doing it by hand."

Another added: "Fab idea might try this tonight thanks."

However not everyone thought the hack was a success.

One said: "It still doesn't look clean hung over the line! Sorry....all that effort..I'd just buy a new one!

"Another added: "God looks like a disaster to me.. Drying it out is the hard bit. Good luck though."
