Savinho set for new Man City deal as Tottenham dealt transfer blow

Manchester City are in advanced talks over a new long-term contract for Savinho, ending any remaining prospect of the winger joining Tottenham.

Spurs made an approach to sign the Brazilian international in the summer but a €50million (£43.6m) offer fell well short of City’s valuation of a player they had not been intending to sell.

Savinho was interested in a move, but the two clubs remained far apart and a deal did not come close to materialising.

The 21-year-old’s current contract at the Etihad Stadium runs until 2029 and Standard Sport understands that an extension until the summer of 2031 is on the verge of being agreed.

That would end any speculation over Savinho joining Spurs in future, as it would now cost even more to prise him away.

Last term, Savinho scored three goals and registered 13 assists in 48 total appearances across all competitions for City. It was his first season at the club after joining from French side Troyes in July 2024.

After missing the first three games of the new campaign, he has since played four times for Pep Guardiola’s side, scoring his first goal of the season in Wednesday night’s 2-0 Carabao Cup third-round win over League One opponents Huddersfield.

Savinho, who previously starred for fellow City Football Group club Girona, has 13 senior international caps for Brazil to his name and is targeting inclusion in Carlo Ancelotti’s squad for next summer’s World Cup in Canada, Mexico and the United States.
