Trailing 2-1 heading into stoppage time, Ronaldo fired in an excellent right-footed volley from the edge of the box, securing what could prove to be a vital point in the Reds' quest to progress to the knockout stages.
Following Duvan Zapata's strike just before the hour mark, cancelling out Ronaldo's first of the night, Atalanta looked set to record a historic victory, but the Portuguese, just as he did against Villarreal in September, struck late to make it five goals in four Champions League appearances this season.
