'Saving Lives in Leeds' will follow those who make critical decisions and perform lifesaving operations for Leeds Teaching Hospitals NHS Trust, which runs Leeds General Infirmary and St James's Hospital.
The eight hour-long episodes, filmed last year, will document how world-leading doctors are battling ever-growing waiting lists and deciding who will be treated next. The emotional stories of patients as they undergo life-changing operations – including brain tumour removal and heart surgery on babies – will also feature.
With access to each doctor, surgeon and consultant's caseload, the programme, made by Label1 promises to shine a light on the jobs of our most capable clinicians.
Emma Loach, Commissioning Editor, BBC Documentaries said: "Saving Lives In Leeds will bring us closer than ever before to the clinicians facing difficult dilemmas on a daily basis and show us what they need to overcome before tackling the day job of changing people’s lives."
