Save up to £1000 on the 5-star JVC DLA-NP5 4K projector with this trade-in offer

JVC

When it comes to watching movies at home, nothing beats a projector. The screen size dwarfs even the biggest TVs, and when you turn them off there’s no imposing black rectangle taking up half your living space. But with projection display sizes measuring up to 200 inches diagonally, there’s nowhere to hide in terms of picture quality. Which makes it all the more important that you buy the best quality possible.

That’s easier than ever thanks to an amazing offer. Right now, selected JVC Retailers are offering up to £1000 off the JVC DLA-NP5 (rated five stars by yours truly) when you trade in your old projector. Which makes one of the best projectors of recent years more accessible than ever.

Here’s why it’s such a good deal.

Part of a five-star family

JVC has been producing amazing home cinema projectors for years, and the DLA-NP5 is no exception. It joins the DLA-NZ7 and DLA-NZ9 (which we also awarded five stars) in producing stunning results.

That’s thanks to JVC’s D-ILA optical system. JVC’s proprietary technology has been renowned in the industry for years for producing unrivalled black levels that don’t require help from the brightness-adjusting dynamic iris systems that other projector systems rely on. And because there are no moving parts, intrusions like the rainbow effect and fizzing noise are non-existent.

The native 4K resolution provides stunningly sharp visuals, while the 1900 lumens of peak brightness help make for an excellent contrast ratio of 400,000:1 with the dynamic contrast ratio feature activated. That means a yawning chasm between the light and dark parts of the picture, making your content much more immersive.

Also helping in the immersion stakes is support for multiple formats of HDR (high dynamic range). This not only creates a greater difference between the light and dark sections of the picture, it also adds more gradual steps in between, making the image much more lifelike. With HDR10, HLG (often used for live broadcasts) and HDR10+ all supported, you’ll have a wider range of HDR content to enjoy.

Want more? How about the Frame Adapt HDR and Theatre Optimizer features, which create a dynamic tone mapping system that studies every incoming HDR frame and optimise it to the projector’s capabilities?

Both of its HDMI ports support 4K graphics at the 120Hz refresh rate produced by both the Xbox Series X and PlayStation 5. So, you can be sure you’re seeing your games in all their graphical glory. Add in the low latency mode (with an input lag of just 36ms), and your opponents don’t stand a chance.

You don’t need a dedicated home cinema room to house it in, either. Thanks to its motorised zoom, focus and image shift adjustments, it fits into your room, rather than demanding you rearrange the furniture around it.

Picture? Perfect

All this technology makes for a picture that has to be seen to be believed. Even the darkest parts of the picture are rendered with rich, deep blacks that never stray into the muddy greys common to projectors in this class. That makes for much detail in often-hard-to-see scenes.

But it does exceptional brightness, too. Thanks to tone mapping, it delivers a level of brightness that contrasts directly with the detailed, inky black sections of the picture. This exceptional contrast feeds through to the rest of the colour palette, making other hues look more radiant and boldly saturated. But it’s not just bright colours that see the benefit – more muted colours are rendered with sufficient subtlety and a notable absence of striping or flaring out.

All of this adds up to a sharply detailed, crisply rendered 4K picture.

And you don’t lose any detail when the action gets frantic. The motion handling retains the smooth cinematic feel with no judder. Add some popcorn, and you could be forgiven for thinking you’re in a cinema.
