LUCKNOW: Crediting Vinayak Damodar Savarkar for the vision on the basis of which India was developing into a country where there was no place for separatism, terrorism and extremism, chief minister Yogi Adityanath said that had the country adopted the nationalist thoughts of Savarkar, then the divisions that appeared in India after Independence over caste, religion, area and language would not have appeared.
Speaking at the launch of a book on Savarkar on Friday, Yogi said the country would not have had to deal with the repercussions of divisive forces for so long had Savarkar’s ideology been adopted. “The name of Veer Savarkar is sufficient for those who are anti-India. Those who do not believe in the idea of India show disappointment at the mention of his name,” he said.
He added that in his book ‘1857 Ka Swatantraya Samar’, Savarkar described the revolt of 1857 as the first attempt at independence and this book inspired several revolutionaries and youth to sacrifice themselves for the country.
