What did Savannah Guthrie say on air?
During Tuesday’s broadcast of Today, Savannah Guthrie briefly addressed the ongoing investigation surrounding her mother’s disappearance.
The emotional moment came after a segment discussing the contents of a ransom note that had been sent to media outlets in Arizona following Nancy Guthrie’s disappearance.
Holding back tears, Savannah acknowledged the unusual situation of appearing on the program while the story was being covered.
“This is unusual and unprecedented, to say the least, to be sitting here. I don’t have any comment on this story, and I’m not involved in our coverage, but I can’t pretend I’m not here,” she said.
As she became emotional, she turned her attention directly to viewers.
“So since I am, I wanted to just take the opportunity to ask people ― really, to beg people ― to come forward. Somebody knows something.”
She added, “We are in agony. We cannot be at peace ... this is a moment to tell you that we need your help. We’re begging for your help, and I’m not going to miss that opportunity," as per a report by BuzzFeed.
