A savage gang duo attacked an elderly Dubliner bursting through his door after pretending to be "concerned neighbours" who were looking out for him.
The vulnerable pensioner, understood to be in his 70s, had his north Dublin home stormed by the pair who robbed his mobile and a sum of money during the day time burglary.
The men called to his Raheny house on Monday just before 4pm before forcing their way in after tricking the pensioner into a false sense of security.
Thankfully the victim was not injured during the incident but is frightened that a repeat attack may take place.
Raheny Gardai have launched a ganghunt to find the culprits and told Dublin Live that investigations are ongoing.
A spokesman said: "Gardai in Raheny are investigating a burglary which occurred at Dublin 5 on January 18 at approximately 3:30pm.
“It is understood two males forced their way into the property and a sum of cash and a mobile phone was taken during the course of the incident.
"There were no reports of injuries and no arrests have been made."
He added: "No further information is available and investigations are ongoing."
