'Savage!' Fans love what Newcastle tweeted about Lee Bowyer after Charlton's win vs Sunderland

Charlton Athletic will play in the Championship next season for the first time since 2016 after beating Sunderland in the League One play-off final on Sunday.

The result was secured in dramatic circumstances, as the Addicks fought back from conceding an early own goal to win the game with just six seconds to spare.

As a result, Sunderland's hopes of securing an immediate return to the second-tier of English football were dashed and they will now have to prepare for a second season in League One.

Naturally, the result went down well with Newcastle United fans as they enjoyed seeing the struggles of their arch-rivals continue - with the Black Cats remarkably losing their last eight trips to Wembley.

Newcastle's official Twitter account even got in on the act by tweeting their congratulations to Charlton Athletic boss Lee Bowyer, who used to play for the Magpies.

Unsurprisingly, the tweet has gone down well with Newcastle supporters, and Charlton fans have also been reacting positively to the message on social media, as can be seen below.
