Sausage supper row thug jailed after sparking mass brawl under Glasgow’s Heileman’s Umbrella

A thug who started a mass brawl after knocking over a man’s sausage supper was jailed for eight months.

Youcef Boutoubane, 18, fought Andrew Graham, 36, under Glasgow’s Heileman’s Umbrella in July last year.

Further chaos was sparked when Mr Graham’s friends and random members of the public joined in the fight.

He was locked up for eight months by Sheriff Alan Mackenzie after he pled guilty at Glasgow Sheriff Court to engaging in a stand up fight.

The court saw CCTV footage of the incident which took place outside a Tim Horton’s premises late at night.

The accused, who was walking in the opposite direction to Mr Graham, knocked his sausage supper to the ground as he brushed past.

Prosecutor Lucy Adams said: “Boutoubane walked past Mr Graham and knocked over his food from his hand that fell to the ground.”

Mr Graham looked back at Boutoubane with his arms out wide.

Miss Adams added: “They had a very short discussion before at least two other men joined in.

“A disturbance ensued which became a stand up fight which involved a number of people including Boutoubane.

“This involved friends of Mr Graham and random members of the public that chose to involve themselves.”

Boutoubane was pulled away and fled from the brawl while it continued.

In court Boutoubane also admitted an assault and robbery at a newsagents in Glasgow’s Renfield Street five days later.

Boutoubane and an unknown man robbed shopkeeper Nadeem Nazir, 24, in the early hours of the morning.

Mr Nazir was held to the ground while the pair raided the till, stealing £150.

Miss Adams said: “Mr Nazir tried to follow them but the till was thrown at him by Boutoubane.”

He was admonished on the charge by Sheriff Paul Crozier.
