Sausage & Cider Festival coming to Newcastle with live music and eating contests

Partial to sausages and don't mind a drop of cider either? Well an event is coming to Newcastle that should give you food for thought and quench your thirst in equal measure.

Described as 'the world's biggest sausage party', the Sausage & Cider Festival will descend on Newcastle Civic Centre on August 31 and there's loads on the menu.

As well as loads sausages and loads of cider, organisers are promising live music, DJs, craft beers, a gin bar and even an eating contest.

The sausage lineup, which will see the festival team up with independent vendors, is set to be released in the next few weeks and as well as tucking into some bangers while you're at the event, there will also be an opportunity to buy some to take home.

On the subject of cider, there will be plenty to sample with the range including craft, new world, English, French, apple wine, fruit cider and ice cider.

If you pride yourself on having a rather large appetite, the eating contests could be right up your alley, and could range from hot dogs to sausages to spicy foods.

How to get tickets

Early birds tickets are on sale now online from Eventbrite. The festival will be divided up into two sessions - 12 - 5pm and 6-11pm.

Tickets cost £10 plus fees.
