KOLKATA: Saurav Ghosal has many firsts to his name, but becoming the first Indian to win a Commonwealth Games (CWG) singles medal in squash provided him the most satisfaction.
“It was very emotional,” he told TOI on Thursday. “I will keep this right up there with perhaps the Asian Games team gold that I won at Incheon in 2014. I had played in three CWGs before and came close to a medal in 2014 when I finished fourth,” he stated.
He, however, is excited to see squash being shortlisted for the Los Angeles Olympics in 2028.
“Playing at the Olympics is every athlete’s dream. It’s difficult to see me there six years from now. But of course, never say never and I can keep my fingers crossed,” he said.
