Saurabh Sachdeva calls 'Jaane Jaan' co-star Kareena Kapoor Khan 'very professional'; admires Ranbir Kapoor's ease in front of the camera on the sets of 'Animal' - Exclusive

Saurabh Sachdeva has been enjoying a string of successful projects recently. His outstanding performances in 'Bambai Meri Jaan' and 'Jaane Jaan' have earned him high praise. Now, he's gearing up to captivate the audience once again in the upcoming film 'Animal.' ETimes had a candid conversation with him in which he discussed his collaboration with Kareena Kapoor Khan, Ranbir Kapoor, and offered insights into what fans can anticipate from the Sandeep Reddy Vanga-directed movie. Excerpts...

Your performance in 'Bambai Meri Jaan' and 'Jaane Jaan' have received rave reviews. How does it feel?

It feels lovely. I am very excited and happy with whatever is happening around. I feel I am at the top of the world.

What attracted you to the role of ASI Ajit Mhatre in 'Jaane Jaan'? How did you prep for a dark character like that?

Preparing for this role was quite challenging for me. The character of Ajit has values that are different from my own. So, in order to truly understand and empathize with his perspective, I had to make a significant shift. I delved into his childhood, crafting scenes that helped me grasp why he became the person he is today. It was through this process that I developed his core values. I had to metaphorically take off my own armour and put on his. It was a demanding task, but I believe I managed to do it effectively.

How is Kareena Kapoor Khan as a co-star? What did you guys bond on the sets on?

Working with Kareena was a highly professional and enjoyable experience. She respects an actor's space and allows them to express themselves. When I had to discuss getting close or holding her in a scene, she readily agreed because it was what the characters required. We moved forward with it because it was essential for the scene's authenticity. The ease with which she embraced these aspects of the role, highlights her professionalism and years of experience in front of the camera. She's always such an easy person to work with.

You will soon be seen with the Kapoor scion Ranbir in 'Animal'. What is the most interesting part about working with him?

He's incredibly comfortable in front of the camera and shows great respect for his fellow actors. If someone on set is in pain or injured, he's always there, offering support and showing consideration. He understands that the scene relies on the collective effort of all actors involved. Instead of retreating to his own vanity or preferred spot, he remains present and engaged. He recognizes that the scene's success depends on the well-being of all actors. He's also remarkably spontaneous, asking numerous questions and engaging in meaningful discussions. His demeanour on set is consistently relaxed, contributing to a harmonious working environment.

The teaser of Animal has piqued the curiosity of fans. What should everyone expect from it?

A lot of drama, a lot of spice, a lot of fun. People will be on the edge of their seats. There's going to be a lot of conflict as well. People will love it. It's going to be an experience. It's going to be a ride.
