Saul Niguez's shirt number confirmed as star states Kepa Arrizabalaga's opinion of Thomas Tuchel

Saul Niguez completed his loan move to Chelsea late on deadline day and has finally had some time to settle in at the Blues' training base in Cobham.

The Spaniard has been handed his training gear, had to work through the customary photographs and interviews and has finally been handed his new shirt number.

The 26-year-old has donned the number eight for Diego Simeone's side for years but that was claimed earlier this summer by Mateo Kovacic.

The Croatian's former number 17 was left available, and that was an option not unfamiliar to the new signing. The loanee has worn those digits for two seasons early in his Atleti career and claims them in his debut Chelsea term.

Saul seems to be settling in well and already knows Kepa Arrizabalaga, Marcos Alonso and Cesar Azpilicueta from his time with the national team. The Blues stopper even shared a room with Saul in the youth set.

Of course, the glovesman had given his verdict on Thomas Tuchel, and Saul is excited to work under his new coach.

He said: "Very happy. Kepa always speaks really well about him. His teams always deliver and get great results.

"I think it's going to be a good thing for me, personally. I'm really nervous, I'm looking forward to training with my new team-mates, despite the international break.

"I hope they are back soon. I'm looking forward to welcoming them, very excited."
