Saul Niguez development gives Man Utd massive transfer boost

Atletico Madrid could be forced into selling Manchester United target Saul Niguez this summer because of a release clause in his contract.

According to the Sun the 24-year-old has a deal with Atletico which keeps him at the club until 2026, but he allegedly has a release clause of £135m.

While it is certainly a pricey sum, considering his age and ability United may be tempted to splash out on the player if Paul Pogba leaves this summer.

With Pogba linked with an £150m move to Madrid, United would have more than enough to afford Saul, and manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer is said to be a big fan of the player.

The Norwegian is known to be keen to strengthen his midfield this summer, with Ander Herrera having left the club and the likes of Fred and Nemanja Matic not always producing their best form last season.

He has already brought in winger Daniel James from Swansea and full-back Aaron Wan-Bissaka from Crystal Palace , but the spending is not expected to stop there.

Another target is Bruno Fernandes of Sporting Lisbon, and according to Italian publication La Gazzetta dello Sport the player's agent is due to fly to Manchester on Wednesday night to put the finishing touches to the move.

Fernandes has reportedly already agreed personal terms and a contract worth around £100,000 per week, but a transfer fee has not yet been decided between the two clubs, with Sporting holding out for £70m.

Solskjaer will be hoping to add at least one new face before he and his side jet off to Australia to begin their pre-season tour.

United play their first game against Perth Glory on July 13 before taking on rivals Leeds United in the same city four days later.

They then face Inter Milan in Singapore on 20 July and Tottenham in Shanghai on 25 July.
