Saudi Universities Resort to e-Testing amid Coronavirus Lockdown

Saudi universities begin students exams on Sunday online, Asharq Al-Awsat

In a first for universities in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, testing will be carried out remotely through online virtual means.

Saudi universities, over the last few weeks, have been using blackboard technology and the "Zoom" program alongside a host of advanced apps to broadcast virtual lectures to students.

A number of universities released reports which show what has been accomplished by remote learning systems.

More so, a number of universities announced holding remote graduation ceremonies to celebrate with students who graduate under the COVID-19 lockdown. Many students have shared photos of themselves in a graduation robe online.

The Ministry of Education had concluded the importance of continuing the educational process in universities, provided that the option to withdraw from a course or several courses remains available to all male and female students undertaking any education program.

Withdrawal from a course or a program must take place before Thursday, April 23.

Abiding by regulations, public and private colleges are redistributing grades so that semester assignments account for 80 percent of the final grade while the final test accounts for 20 grades.

The Education Ministry also recommended that the accumulative grade of this semester does not affect the grade point average on which academic probation is decided.
