A number of Saudi and UAE officials met at the Riyadh-based King Salman Humanitarian Aid and Relief Center (KSRelief) on Monday with UN Undersecretary-General for Humanitarian Affairs and Emergency Relief Coordinator Mark Lowcock, reported the Saudi Press Agency.
Discussions focused on the humanitarian response plan and the humanitarian situation in Yemen.
Saudi Ambassador to Yemen Mohammed bin Saeed Al Jaber, Executive Director of "Isnad" Center for Comprehensive Humanitarian Operations in Yemen, was also present at the meeting.
He said in a statement: “We are saying very clearly that the main reason for the current deterioration in the humanitarian situation in Yemen is the Iran-backed Houthi militias that are usurping power in Sanaa.”
He added that the militias rejected the political solution, which has consequently prolonged the humanitarian crisis in Yemen.
"The meeting was positive and fruitful. What I heard today is that there has been a significant improvement in the performance of the UN agencies and a significant improvement in the humanitarian situation,” the ambassador continued.
The meeting was also attended by KSRelief Assistant Supervisor General for Operations and Programs Ahmed bin Ali Al-Bayez, UAE Assistant Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation for International Development Affairs Sultan Al Shamsi and Director of Civil Operations at Command of the Coalition Forces to Support the Legitimacy of Yemen Major General Abdullah Al-Hababi.
