
Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Salman bin Abdulaziz and the Tunisian President, Mohammed Beji Caid Essebsi, held a bilateral meeting at the Carthage Palace in Tunis, during which they witnessed the signing ceremony of two agreements.
The deals involved a development loan for a project to protect cities and urban areas against floods and another on the financing of Saudi exports for the Tunisian Refining Industries Company.
The agreements were co-signed by the Saudi Minister of Foreign Affairs, Ibrahim al-Assaf, and his Tunisian counterpart Khemaies Jhinaoui.
The two leaders also attended wide-range official talks, in the presence of the delegations of the two countries, during which brotherly relations were reviewed, means of enhancing and developing them, as well as reviewing regional and international developments.
The official talks were attended by Minister of Interior Prince Abdulaziz bin Saud bin Naif bin Abdulaziz, Minister of State and Member of the Cabinet Musaed al-Aiban, Minister of Foreign Affairs Ibrahim al-Assaf, Minister of Commerce and Investment Majed al-Gasabi, Minister of Finance Mohammed al-Jadaan, Minister of Media Turki bin Abdullah al-Shabanah, Minister of State for African Countries Affairs Ahmed Qattan, and Mohammed bin Mahmoud Al-Ali, Saudi Ambassador of to Tunisia Mohammed al-Ali.
Tunisian officials also attended the talks including Presidential Advisor for political affairs Habib Habib Essid, Minister of Defense Abdul Karim al-Zubaidi, Minister of Interior Hisham al-Fratti, Minister of Foreign Affairs Khemaies Jhinaoui, Minister of Presidential Affairs Salma al-Lumi, and First Advisor to the Head of Information and Communication Firas al-Kafrachi.
The King received the “Highest Tunisian Order” and awarded the Tunisian President “King Abdulaziz Order”.
The summit between the two leaders also witnessed the launch of three projects in Tunisia.
They unveiled a plaque of King Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud project to restore Uqbah bin Nafie Mosque and the ancient city of Qairaouan and King Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud project to restore Grand Ezzitouna Mosque. In addition, they laid the foundation stone for building and equipping King Salman bin Abdulaziz Mosque Teaching Hospital in Qairaouan.
King Salman arrived Thursday in Tunisia on a state visit at an invitation of the Tunisian President, and he is scheduled to attend the Arab summit to be held in Tunis on Sunday.
Upon arrival at the Presidential Airport in Tunis, the Custodian was received by the President and the accompanying delegation.
The King was also accompanied by Prince Khalid bin Fahd bin Khalid, Prince Mansour bin Saud bin Abdulaziz, Prince Talal bin Saud bin Abdulaziz, Advisor to the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques Prince Khalid bin Bandar bin Abdulaziz, Prince Sattam bin Saud bin Abdulaziz, Prince Faisal bin Saud bin Mohammed, Prince Khalid bin Turki bin Abdulaziz, Governor of al-Baha Region Prince Husam bin Saud bin Abdulaziz, Advisor to the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques Prince Abdulaziz bin Sattam bin Abdulaziz, Prince Saud bin Salman bin Abdulaziz, Consultant at the Royal Court Prince Abdullah bin Khalid bin Sultan bin Abdulaziz, Prince Abdulmajeed bin Abdul-Elah bin Abdulaziz, and Prince Rakan bin Salman bin Abdulaziz.
