Saudi Arabia’s Local Content and Government Procurement Authority (LCGPA) has revealed completing its strategy for the coming stage, and announced a series of initiatives to promote public-private sector partnership.
LCGPA’s chairman of the board of directors Dr. Ghassan al-Shebl stated that the authority has come up with a strategy and objectives, and launched several initiatives on a partnership between the public and private sectors.
The authority developed a single definition for local content endorsed by the cabinet, he said.
Shebl stressed that LCGPA proceeds with reinforcing local content capabilities by relying on a permanent cooperation with the private sector to activate local capabilities and potentials.
He lauded the role of the Riyadh Chamber of Commerce and Industry (RCCI) and the Council of Saudi Chambers in backing local services, products, and industries.
At a roundtable discussion held by RCCI, Shebl hailed the attendance of Chairman of RCCI Ajlan al-Ajlan and members from the board of directors, investors, and those interested in local content and government procurement.
Ajlan asserted that the private sector is aware of its role in serving national goals , especially in times of economic crises.
The discussion witnessed a briefing on LCGPA’s role with a presentation of mechanisms to prioritize local content in the new system of competency and government procurement. It also saw a discussion on several joint topics between the business sector and the authority.
