The Saudi-South Korean Joint Committee convened in Riyadh on Wednesday under the co-chairmanship of Saudi Minister of Economy and Planning Mohammad bin Mazid Al-Tuwaijri and South Korean Foreign Minister Kang Kyung-wha.

Tuwaijri lauded the Saudi-Korean relations binding the two countries, adding that the meeting coincides with the Kingdom’s hosting of next year’s G20 summit.

The meeting underlines the close cooperation between the two sides, he added

The meeting witnessed the signing of agreement King Abdullah University of Science and Technology (KAUST) and Korea Institute of Ceramic Engineering and Technology (KICET) in the field of energy efficiency.

For her part, Kang expressed her deep appreciation to Saudi Arabia for the generous hospitality, adding that this meeting comes as an extension of the meeting of the 18th joint committee held in Seoul two years ago.

"It is my first visit to the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia. I immediately felt the strong desire of the Kingdom to develop and change, as well as to move forward towards a more prosperous future under the leadership of the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Salman bin Abdulaziz," she said.
