Saudi Shura Council Approves Anti-Harassment Crime Draft-Bill

The Shura Council met in Riyadh on Monday. (SPA)

The Saudi Shura Council approved on Monday an anti-harassment crime draft-bill, reported the Saudi Press Agency.

The bill was approved during a meeting in Riyadh chaired by Speaker Sheikh Dr. Abdullah bin Mohammed bin Ibrahim Al Al-Sheikh.

Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Salman bin Abdulaziz had ordered the Interior Ministry to prepare the anti-harassment bill given the negative impact this phenomenon has on the individual, family and society and given its violation of the values of Islam.

He underscored the need to draft a bill that criminalizes harassment and sets the appropriate punishment for the perpetrators.

The Shura Council also discussed various public issues, stressing the need to link them to the Kingdom Vision 2030, especially in terms of promoting and enhancing media content to bolster the National Transformation Program 2020 performance, by forming a body for developing media content.

The Shura Council also approved a draft for a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) for fiscal inquiries between the State Security Headquarters of Saudi Arabia and its counterpart in Belgium.

The council concluded its meeting by approving a draft-agreement between the Kingdom and Bulgaria to evade double taxation and its protocol.
