Saudi Senior Scholars Warn Channels Spreading Misguidance, Sedition

The General Secretariat of the Council of Senior Scholars has warned of TV Channels that spread misguidance and sedition and have become a mouthpiece of terrorist groups, especially Qatar's al-Jazeera TV channel. It added that Jazeera provides its viewers with false information on the nation's causes and problems, and fabricates lies as well as hosting people with no allegiance where they promote what serves the policy of the parties funding them so as to divide Arab countries and disrupt their unity.

In its statement issued on Tuesday, the Council said that history will not forget that Jazeera was and is still a platform for leaders of terrorism, as it used exclusively to broadcast speeches of Osama bin Laden, leader of terrorist al-Qaeda and his successor. Jazeera also promoted speeches of terrorists who previously took up arms in Saudi Arabia.

The channel is now practicing the same role by spreading the speeches of Houthi terrorist militias' leader in a clear targeting of the security of the Kingdom and Muslims' sacred sites, as this terrorist group has targeted the holy Makkah before, added the statement.

In this context, the General Secretariat confirmed that for years now, the Kingdom's scholars warned of this channel and stated that it is playing a suspicious role in provoking strife and creating issues between countries, as stated by Saudi Grand Mufti Sheikh Abdulaziz bin Abdullah Al Al-Sheikh and member of the Council of Senior Scholars Sheikh Saleh bin Fawzan Al-Fawzan.

The Council of Senior Scholars concluded its statement by reiterating the duty of all Muslims to abide to the Quran and the Sunnah of His Messenger and warned of such channels that aim to create discord and unrest.
