The Saudi Public Investment Fund (PIF) has named Andrew Liveris as a special adviser, in its highest-profile appointment of any global manufacturing executive.
He will act as adviser to Crown Prince Mohammad Bin Salman, Deputy Prime Minister, Minister of Defense and PIF Chairman.
Liveris will work closely with the Fund in several areas, assist it in efforts to increase the value of its investment portfolio and ensure the important contribution of PIF companies to the achievement of the goals of Saudi Vision 2030.
The PIF said Liveris has extensive experience working in Saudi Arabia over the last two decades and under his leadership, Dow DuPont worked with Aramco to develop the Sadara Chemical petrochemical complex. He currently serves on the board of IBM and Saudi Arabia’s oil giant Saudi Aramco.
The Fund last week announced the formation of an advisory board that includes 11 executives from across the globe's technology, finance and business spheres who will provide strategic guidance on developing the Kingdom's Future Investment Initiative (FII) as a platform to attract investments.
PIF seeks to reinforce FII 2018 and to discover new growth opportunities. The advisory council regularly offers strategic guidelines for the different aspects of the initiative – it also works on bolstering future opportunities suggested to the global leaders to attend the event.
The second edition of FII is taking place in Riyadh on October 23-25.
It will explore how investment can be used to drive growth opportunities, fuel innovation and shape future economies.
