Riyadh’s Specialized Criminal Court held a Monday session to consider the case of espionage involving a 34-year-old Saudi male citizen.
The Saudi defendant is charged of communicating with Iranian intelligence agents, covering up for intelligence operations, and provoking sedition.
The Saudi, who works in the private sector, is also accused of misleading the investigative authority and other security authorities.
He has also travelled to Iraq on several occasions, using unlawful means to avoid the travel ban he’s on.
The Attorney-General requested that Public Prosecutor convicts the defendants, sentencing them to the maximum sentence prescribed in article VI of the Anti-Crime Act.
A mobile device in the defendant’s possession was also confiscated.
The Prosecutor also requested that the maximum sentence set out in Article X on travel regulations, which is a severe penalty set out to restrain the defendant from traveling abroad.
