Saudi minister visits China in push for closer cultural collaboration

Saudi Arabia and China have signed a series of agreements to enhance cultural collaboration during a visit to Beijing by the Kingdom’s culture minister.

Prince Bader bin Abdullah bin Farhan Al Saud visited China this week as part of the push for closer working between the two nations.

Multiple agreements were signed across the cultural sector, from films, museums and heritage, to theatre, performing and visual arts, architecture and design, libraries, and traditional arts and handicrafts.

The visit included the signing of a memorandum of understanding with China’s Ministry of Culture and Tourism.

An agreement was also signed with the Bona Film Group set to unlock new avenues for collaboration across film distribution, exhibition, and talent development.

The minister met with the President of Peking University, before the launch of a Arabic Language Month in partnership with the university.

The Kingdom of Saudi Arabia was a guest of honour at the Beijing International Book Fair.

Prince Bader bin Abdullah bin Farhan Al Saud said: “From collaborating on projects related to the preservation of Saudi heritage, to cooperating to combat illicit trafficking of cultural artefacts, and facilitating participation in cultural festivals and events between our two countries, this expansive partnership demonstrates our shared passion for, and dedication to, elevating culture and the arts. By collaborating, we look forward to reaching new cultural heights together.”
