Saudi Minister of Local Administration and Chairman of Supreme Relief Committee Abdulraqeeb Fatah condemned the Iran-backed Houthi militias in Yemen for preventing a World Food Program (WFP) delegation from visiting the Taiz province, reported the Saudi Press Agency.
The delegation was scheduled to visit the region Sunday.
The militiamen blocked the delegation as they attempted to enter the besieged city through the al-Howban area in the east.
In a statement to the official Yemeni news agency, Fatah condemned the Houthis’ action as a flagrant violation of the recent agreement that was reached in Sweden between the legitimate government and militias.
It is another violation that is added to the militias’ record in violating humanitarian rights, he added.
He noted that the Houthis have blocked many shipments of relief and humanitarian aid headed to Taiz and impeded three high-profile UN delegation trips to the province.
Moreover, he remarked that the siege against Taiz, which has lasted for more than three years, should have prompted the international community to act to end the people’s suffering.
