Saudi Minister of Media Dr. Awwad bin Saleh Al-Awwad launched on Thursday the electronic portal for this year's Hajj pilgrimage as an official source of news, statements and information, including initiatives and upcoming activities and events, reported the Saudi Press Agency.

He expressed his gratitude to Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Salman bin Abdulaziz and Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Defense, for their support to the Ministry of Media and other government bodies that are taking part in the Hajj.

He stressed that the Kingdom welcomes pilgrims from different nationalities, sects and races from all parts of the world.

The country’s human and material capabilities are at the disposal of the pilgrims to help them perform their rituals from the moment of their arrival to their safe departure home, he added.

He announced that his ministry has completed preparations to host all local, international audiovisual and written media. The ministry has been equipped with all state-of-the-art devices to facilitate the broadcast of the Hajj to the world and demonstrate the great effort Saudi authorities and people are exerting to take care of the pilgrims.

More than 800 foreign media representatives have been invited by the Kingdom to cover Hajj events, said Awwad.

To this end, the ministry has equipped a number of media centers in Makkah and holy sites with necessary devices to provide journalists and media representatives from inside and outside the Kingdom with necessary services.

Awwad said the centers will provide live and photographic feeds, as well as information and data on the Kingdom's achievements in regards to the expansions of the two holy mosques and development of the urban zone around them. They will also highlight the giant constructions and infrastructure in the area.

The government communication center, an affiliate of the ministry, is supervising the implementation of Hajj plan, he added.
