Saudi MASAM Clears Hundreds of Mines in Yemen During 4th Week of April

The MASAM project, part of King Salman Humanitarian Aid and Relief Center (KSrelief) has successfully cleared 24 anti-personnel mines, 1,018 anti-tank mines, 197 improvised explosive devices, 1,082 unexploded munitions.

The total number of mines and explosive devices which were removed reached 2,321 during the 4th week of April 2019.

Since the start of the MASAM project, 63,719 mines planted by the Iranian-backed Houthi militias in Yemen have been removed, in spite of Houthis attempts to hide the mines in various forms, colors, and methods, resulting in the death of a large number of children, women and the elderly as well as serious injuries and amputation of organs, the Saudi Press Agency reported.

KSrelief authorities in Yemen have also distributed 1516 food baskets weighing 112.184 tons on several villages in the governorates of Heran and Abbs in the province of Hijja, benefiting 9096 persons.

Meanwhile, in al-Hodeidah, more than 1000 Cholera suspects have reported to KSrelief clinics in the first quarter of this year, according to official statistics.
