US President Donald Trump congratulated on Sunday Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Salman bin Abdulaziz and Russian President Vladimir Putin on reaching a historic agreement on cutting oil output.
OPEC, Russia and other oil producing nations unanimously agreed to cut output by a record 9.7 million barrels per day, around 10 percent of global supply, to support oil prices amid the coronavirus pandemic.
“Great deal for all," Trump said in a tweet after joint talks with King Salman and Putin.
"The big Oil Deal with OPEC+ is done. This will save hundreds of thousands of energy jobs in the United States," he added.
King Salman, Trump and Putin expressed their satisfaction with efforts exerted towards stabilizing the global oil markets, stressing that oil producing countries will continue to assume their responsibilities and respect their commitments in backing the market.
Later on Sunday, Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Defense, telephoned Trump to discuss the deal.
