Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Defense, concluded on Friday his tour of the Gulf region by visiting Kuwait. The royal had kicked off his tour from Oman on Tuesday with later stops in the United Arab Emirates, Qatar and Bahrain.

The tour was aimed at bolstering cooperation between the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) countries ahead of the Saudi Arabia's hosting of the 42nd GCC summit in mid-December.

Kuwait's Emir Sheikh Nawaf al-Ahmad al-Jaber Al Sabah bestowed on Crown Prince Mohammed with the Order of Mubarak the Great and the Order of Kuwait, the country's highest orders in recognition of his efforts in consolidating bonds between Kuwait and Riyadh, and the GCC members.

Crown Prince Mohammed was accorded with a warm official and popular reception in Kuwait. Sheikh Mishal received him and also saw him off at the airport.

In a cable to Sheikh Nawaf, he thanked his hosts for their reception, saying his visit underscores the depth of the historic relations that bind Saudi Arabia and Kuwait under the leadership of Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques and the Emir of Kuwait. Crown Prince Mohammed sent a similar cable to Sheikh Mishal.

This was the Saudi royal's third visit to Kuwait. His first took place in May 2015 and the second in September 2018. During the second trip, both sides signed the agreement to form the Kuwaiti-Saudi coordination council, which paved the way for a new chapter in cooperation between their counries.

Crown Prince Mohammed had sought during his GCC tour to bolster cooperation and relations between member states. It underlined the importance Saudi Arabia places on preserving solidarity among Gulf states, ties between their peoples and bolstering their respective economies.
