
The Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques, King Salman bin Abdulaziz, met on Thursday with US Secretary of State Mike Pompeo, the Saudi Press Agency reported.
During the talks in Riyadh, they reviewed relations between the two countries and developments in the region and the world, SPA said.
The meeting was attended by Princess Reema bint Bandar bin Sultan bin Abdulaziz, Saudi Ambassador to the US; Prince Faisal bin Farhan bin Abdullah, Minister of Foreign Affairs, and Minister of State, Cabinet Member and National Security Adviser Dr. Musaed bin Mohammed Al-Aiban.
It was also attended by US Ambassador to the Kingdom John Abizaid; Assistant Secretary of State for Near Eastern Affairs David Schenker; Military Adviser Lieutenant General Ricky L. Waddell; State Department Spokesperson Morgan Ortagus, and Deputy Chief of Mission Martina Strong.
Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman also held talks with Pompeo during a meeting attended by Saudi Deputy Defense Minister Prince Khalid bin Salman.
Pompeo said the American military presence in the Kingdom is a form of deterrence against Iran. He spoke during a visit to the Prince Sultan air base.
Also Thursday, Pompeo held talks with the Saudi Foreign Minister.
