Saudi King Oversees Peace Deal Signed by Eritrea, Ethiopia

Eritrea and Ethiopia signed a peace deal on Sunday at a ceremony in Jeddah overseen by Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Salman bin Abdulaziz and attended by Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman.

The signing ceremony between Eritrean President Isaias Afwerki and Ethiopian Prime Minister Abiy Ahmed was also attended by UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres and UAE Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation Sheikh Abdullah bin Zayed Al Nahyan.

The Ethiopian and Eritrean leaders were awarded for their efforts the Order of King Abdulaziz Medal, the kingdom's highest civilian honor.

Earlier, King Salman received Guterres at Al-Salam Palace in Jeddah.

During the meeting, they reviewed developments in the international arena and various efforts aimed at achieving world peace and stability.
