Saudi King, Crown Prince Offer Condolences over Victims of Indonesia Quake

Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Salman bin Abdulaziz and Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Defense, sent on Monday separate cables of condolences to Indonesian President Joko Widodo over the victim’s of Sunday’s earthquake, reported the Saudi Press Agency.

King Salman and Prince Mohammed expressed their condolences on behalf of the Saudi people and government.

They wished the wounded a speedy recovery.

At least 98 people were killed in the 6.9 magnitude quake that struck the tourist island of Lombok, destroying villages and stranding thousands.

Quakes continued to rattle the island, including a 5.5 magnitude tremor on Monday, Indonesia's meteorology and geophysics agency said (BMKG).

A total of 230 aftershocks were recorded by Tuesday morning, BMKG data showed.

The death toll is expected to rise as rescuers continue to search the rubble for survivors.
