Saudi International Forum Expects Many Jobs, Industries to Disappear

Futuristic Advancement Forum (SPA)

International and local experts devised a road map for about 70,000 male and female students graduating from Saudi universities annually, expecting the next few years to witness the disappearance of a number of jobs and industries.

Experts believe that the biggest challenge for the world would be to create new jobs that fit the variables of the labor market.

The participants discussed latest technological trends incorporated into the workplace at the Futuristic Advancement Forum, in Riyadh, with a remarkable presence of officials responsible for cybersecurity and government digital transformation.

Chief Futurist, Ian Khan, said technology is changing the world at a very rapid pace like: artificial intelligence, blockchain, future cars, and robots that are developing at an unprecedented rate, which will affect humans’ life.

Speaking at the forum, Khan indicated that the great challenge would be to generate new jobs that did not exist, as technology changes many industries with the emergence of new opportunities. He also explained that companies and organizations should attract talents and creators with special skills.

Biofuturist and best-selling author, Elsa Sotiriadis called for the use of science fiction in launching initiatives and innovations that rapidly move towards the future. She explained that Vision 2030 is founded on a prosperous future and a modern technology-dependent society.

Sotiriadis added that this will contribute to empowering creators and open the door for innovation.

“Building the Kingdom’s Vision 2030 means creating an independent, technology-driven and prosperous future for modern society. It’s through the mastery of skills that we unlock this innovation.”

Futurist and industrial expert, Christian Kromme, stated that the whole world is heading towards digitalization, and that accelerated technology is paving the birth of a new economy, where blockchain will contribute to the renewal of the monetary system, and nanotechnologies will disrupt entire industries.

“We are living in a time of extraordinary change in which every individual, business, industry and government is being impacted by simultaneous breakthroughs in computing power, connectivity, biotechnology, and artificial intelligence.”

Business development expert Lamees Hedbawi established a road map for the success of new graduates in universities and schools, during a workshop on communication and employment skills in 2030.

“Every year more than 70 thousand students graduate in Saudi Arabia, so what makes every one of them stand out? What should they have to do after graduation?”

Hedbawi indicated that graduates want to secure employment or start a new business, and to achieve that, they need to be able to provide comfort to a potential employer, and promote themselves creatively.

Inspired by Vision 2030, the Futuristic Advancement Forum will take its guests on a thrilling journey to explore the possibilities and the latest technological trends being incorporated into the workplace to uplift training and employees’ performance.
