King Salman chairs a cabinet meeting in Jeddah. (SPA)

The Saudi cabinet that sabotage operations against two East-West oil pipeline pumping stations on Tuesday targeted not only the Kingdom but the security of global oil supplies and the world economy, the Saudi Press Agency reported.

Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Salman bin Abdulaziz chaired the cabinet session that was held in al-Salam Palace in Jeddah.

The cabinet stressed in a statement “the importance of standing against all terrorist organizations that carry out such acts of sabotage, including Iranian-backed Houthi militias” in Yemen.

The ministers also condemned the sabotage operations that targeted Sunday commercial vessels off the coast of the United Arab Emirates.

The “terrorist attack” was a threat to maritime safety, it said, adding that it reflected poorly on regional and international security.

It was “the shared responsibility of the international community to preserve maritime safety and oil tankers security in anticipation of any effects on energy markets, and the danger of that on world economy,” it continued.

Two Saudi oil tankers were among the targeted vessels.

King Salman briefed the gatherers on the telephone call he had with Chinese President Xi Jinping. The two leaders discussed strategic ties and cooperation between their countries in all fields. They also reviewed the latest regional and international developments.

Four commercial vessels were targeted by "sabotage operations" near the territorial waters of the UAE without causing casualties, the foreign ministry said on Sunday.
