The Saudi government praised on Tuesday Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Salman bin Abdulaziz’s speech at the 39th Gulf Cooperation Council summit over the weekend, reported the Saudi Press Agency.

King Salman chaired the government meeting that was held at the al-Yamamah Palace in Riyadh.

The speech, said the cabinet, reflects the concerned powers’ keenness on preserving the GCC and bolstering its role in the present and future.

They are also keen on safeguarding regional security and stability against extremist and terrorist forces that are lurking in the region.

King Salman also highlighted Iran’s hostile policies in sponsoring these forces and meddling in the affairs of other countries. Such challenges require cooperation to maintain regional and global security.

In addition, the ministers hailed the closing statement of the GCC summit, which was held on Sunday. The Riyadh Declaration that was announced at the summit underlines the Gulf leaders’ keenness on protecting the unity of the council and bolstering joint cooperation.

King Salman also briefed the cabinet on the details of the letter he received Monday from Tunisian President Beji Caid Essebsi.

The ministers then congratulated Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Defense, for breaking the ground Monday on the King Salman Energy Park (SPARK), located in the Kingdom’s Eastern Province.

SPARK is a 50-square-kilometer energy city megaproject which will position Saudi Arabia as a global energy, industrial and technology hub and will unite approximately 300 industrial and service facilities.

SPARK has already attracted investments from foreign and local companies to produce and manufacture goods and services in the Kingdom’s energy sector. The investment in the first phase of the project is expected to be around $1.6 billion.
