The Saudi government hailed on Tuesday the royal air force for confronting and deterring threats by the Iran-backed Houthi militias in Yemen.

Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Salman bin Abdulaziz chaired the cabinet meeting that was held virtually in Neom amid the ongoing coronavirus pandemic.

The ministers slammed the Houthis for their ongoing violation of international laws through their deliberate firing of ballistic missiles and armed drones at civilian targets in Saudi Arabia.

They also congratulated Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Defense, on his successful surgery.

King Salman briefed the cabinet on the telephone call he held with US President Joe Biden. The two leaders had stressed the strength of Saudi-American ties and the importance of bolstering the partnership between their countries in service of regional and global security and stability.

The cabinet reviewed the latest local and international developments related to the pandemic as the curve of infections continued to fluctuate in the Kingdom.

The ministers reviewed various reports from new vaccination centers and efforts to uphold preventive measures. They stressed the need for citizens and residents to continue to comply with the measures and follow guidelines issued by relevant authorities.
