
The Saudi government condemned on Tuesday the two attempted terrorist attacks against the Ras Tanura port and residential neighborhood in Dhahran city.
Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Salman bin Abdulaziz chaired the cabinet meeting that was held virtually in Neom amid the ongoing coronavirus pandemic.
The government slammed the failed attack as a flagrant violation of all international laws and norms.
Not only did the cowardly attacks target the Kingdom, but the entire global economy, it added.
The ministers reviewed the measures taken by Saudi Arabia to protect its territories and national gains and in turn the global energy security.
The cabinet reiterate Riyadh’s call on the world and international agencies to stand against such acts that target civilians and vital installations.
The cabinet also highlighted the message delivered by Saudi Arabia’s permanent delegation to the United Nations Security Council and its demand that the international community assume its responsibilities towards the hostile military offensive waged by the Iran-backed Houthi militias in Yemen’s Marib and their terrorist attacks against Saudi Arabia.
It demanded that those behind these hostilities be held to account, adding that they are undermining UN efforts to reach a political solution to the Yemeni conflict.
The cabinet also highlighted the Arab League’s 155th ministerial meeting that underlined the importance of the Palestinian cause. The gatherers said the cause was a priority for the Arab world.
It noted the Arab Quartet Ministerial Committee’s statement on Iran that urged the need to confront its meddling in the internal affairs of Arab countries. It also condemned the provocative statements by some Iranian officials against some Arab countries. The committee is dedicated to following up on developments in the crisis with Iran.
On local developments, the cabinet hailed King Salman’s keenness on the Hajj and Umrah pilgrimages. They underscored his approval on Monday of a range of initiatives aimed at assisting firms and individuals operating in support of the pilgrimages. The initiatives are aimed at mitigating the financial and economic effects of the COVID-19 pandemic across the sector that provides support for the pilgrimages.
On the pandemic, the cabinet reviewed the latest efforts related to the outbreak in the Kingdom, as well as the ongoing vaccination campaign. The campaign is moving ahead smoothly, flattening the coronavirus curve. Over 450 inoculation centers have been set up.
