The Saudi Development and Reconstruction Program for Yemen (SDRPY) formed a team to assess the damage to Aden International Airport in wake of Wednesday’s attack.

The SDRPY is coordinating its efforts with the legitimate Yemeni government, local authorities and the airport administration.

At least 22 people were killed and dozens wounded in an attack the airport, moments after a plane landed carrying a newly formed cabinet for government-held parts of Yemen.

An engineering team affiliated with the SDRP was sent to the site immediately after the attack. It includes contractors, consultants and technical experts who will supervise the work and assess the damage caused by the bombings to Yemen’s second largest airport.

The team has so far removed rubble from the scene and is employing its equipment to carry out repairs to ensure that the facility will be operational as soon as possible.

Earlier this week, General Supervisor of the SDRP signed a contract to implement the second phase of Aden International Airport rehabilitation project at a cost of SR54.4 million.
