The Saudi cabinet has renewed its condemnation of the Iranian-backed Houthi militias for targeting the Kingdom, including civilians areas, using booby-trapped drones.

The Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Salman bin Abdulaziz chaired the session held virtually on Tuesday, during which the cabinet reiterated its strong denunciation of the terrorist attack that took place in the Radwaniyah, Iraq, and caused civilian casualties.

It stressed its rejection of these terrorist acts and its keenness on the security, territorial integrity, stability and prosperity of Iraq.

The King also briefed the MPs on the phone call he received from German Chancellor Angela Merkel, highlighting that they both agreed on the necessity of addressing all forms of extremism and terrorism.

During the phone call, King Salman stressed the Kingdom’s condemnation of the terrorist attacks that have been recently carried out in France and Austria, as well as the cartoons depicting the Prophet Mohammad, highlighting the importance of bolstering rapprochement among followers of religions and civilizations.

Also, the cabinet praised the royal directives to send urgent medical and humanitarian aid to the affected Turkish people through the King Salman Humanitarian Aid and Relief Center (KSRelief) in an attempt to mitigate the impacts of the recent earthquake that hit the Aegean Sea.

It pointed to the joint statement issued following the virtual meeting between Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Defense, and Iraqi Prime Minister Mustafa al-Kadhimi, which stressed both countries’ determination to bolster relations in all fields.

According to the statement, both parties agreed to exchange experiences and boost coordination over oil issues within the scope of work of the Organization of Petroleum Exporting Countries (OPEC) and (OPEC+). They also expressed will to fully commit to all decisions to guarantee fair oil prices for the global market.

They decided to adopt the outcomes of the fourth session of the Saudi-Iraqi Coordination Council and settle on a joint work plan, as well as bilaterally implement the provisions of the Greater Arab Free Trade Area and form a joint business council.
