The Saudi Royal Navy and the Border Guards rescued and evacuated a 72-year-old French sailor, who suffered internal bleeding, while in a sailboat in international waters, 70 nautical miles west of Farsan Island, reported the Saudi Press Agency Saturday.

Spokesman for the Border Guards, Lt. Col. Misfer bin Ghannam Al-Quraini said that the Jeddah Maritime Rescue and Coordination Center (JMRCC) has received an email from the French search and rescue center (GRIS NEZ MRCC) that a boat crew member was in a condition requiring evacuation.

JMRCC identified the location of the boat in Saudi territorial waters and carried out the evacuation.

The sailor was transported by helicopter to the Prince Mohammed bin Nasser hospital in Jizan city for treatment.
