The Saudi embassy in Ankara warned on Tuesday its citizens in Turkey against falling victim to theft.
The mission revealed that Saudis have been victims of pick-pocketers and robbers, who had run off with their money and passports, in some regions in Turkey.
It urged citizens to secure their passports and precious possessions, especially in crowded areas.
They must not hesitate in contacting the embassy or Saudi consulate in Istanbul in cases of emergency.
Tourists, specifically from Saudi Arabia and the Gulf, region have been victims of crimes in Turkey ranging from theft, scams and extortion.
They have also been subject to poor treatment and hospitality at airports, hotels, restaurants and even on the streets.
Precautions have been issued for them to avoid such unpleasant encounters.
The negative experiences have prompted Saudi tourists against traveling to Turkey.
The drop was confirmed by figures from the Turkish Ministry of Culture and Tourism that showed a decline in Saudi tourists in the first quarter of 2019 compared to the same period last year.
Saudi travel agencies have also received increased calls from clients requesting the cancellation of their trips to Turkey. They explained that they were concerned about the lack of security in the country.
The United States and Germany had previously issued travel warnings to Turkey, citing security instability.
