Saudi Arabia Vaccinates 70% of its Adult Population

Saudi Arabia says it has vaccinated 70 percent of its adult population. (SPA)

Saudi Arabia announced it has so far administered around 17 million vaccine doses through 587 vaccination centers across the Kingdom, covering 70 percent of the country’s adult population.

The Saudi Health Ministry launched on Thursday its program that offers residents in the Kingdom above the age of 50 their second dose of the coronavirus vaccine, 40 days after receiving their first shot.

It will also offer the first jab for the same age group for people who still have not received the vaccine.

The ministry will continue to cover other age groups as it receives new doses of the vaccine in the coming weeks.

It had announced last November that the Kingdom plans to inoculate more than 70 percent of its entire population, or more than 23 million people, by the end of 2021.

The Kingdom registered 1,255 new coronavirus cases in the past 24 hours, bringing the total to 479,390. It confirmed 14 more deaths, putting the toll at 7,730, and 1,247 new recoveries, raising the tally to 460,338.
