
The Saudi cabinet welcomed on Tuesday the UK’s blacklisting of the Lebanese Hezbollah party as a terrorist organization, reported the Saudi Press Agency.
Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Salman bin Abdulaziz chaired the cabinet meeting that was held at the al-Yamamah Palace in Riyadh.
The Kingdom had stressed that the terrorist designation of Hezbollah is a constructive step in combating terrorism around the world. It urged the international community to follow in Saudi Arabia and London’s footsteps in taking a firm and united position against terrorist militias that are destabilizing the region.
King Salman also briefed the ministers on the message he received earlier on Tuesday from Mauritanian President Mohamed Ould Abdel Aziz, as well as the talks he held with visiting Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov.
The ministers then highlighted Saudi Arabia’s $500 million donation to the United Nations’ 2019 humanitarian response plan for Yemen. The grant represents the Kingdom’s commitment towards the Yemeni people in order to restore security and stability in their country.
As of January 2019, the Kingdom has presented more than $13 billion in aid to Yemen.
Furthermore, the government hailed the 36th Arab Interior Ministers Council that concluded in Tunis. It stressed its keenness on maintaining joint security cooperation to achieve stability for all Arab peoples.
It also addressed the 40th session of the Human Rights Council that kicked off in Geneva last week. The ministers underscored the council’s role in bolstering and protecting human rights around the world. They stressed that the Kingdom adheres to all national and international human rights laws and regulations.
