Saudi Arabia informed the United Nations Security Council on Thursday that it will take emergency measures to deter the terrorist Iran-backed Houthi militias and hold to account the parties responsible for Wednesday’s attack against Abha International Airport.

In a letter to the Kuwaiti chair of the Security Council for June, Saudi Arabia’s Permanent Ambassador to the United Nations Abdallah al-Mouallimi said that the Houthis claimed full responsibility for the attack, revealing that they targeted the facility using a Cruise missile.

Saudi authorities were still determining the nature of the projectile, he added, remarking, however, that the Houthi claim reveals that the militias have obtained new weapons.

It also reveals that the Iran regime was continuing its cross-border terrorism and violations of relevant Security Council resolutions.

Saudi Arabia and the Saudi-led Arab coalition to restore legitimacy in Yemen will take emergency measures to deter these “unforgivable terrorist attacks to ensure the safety of civilians and civilian facilities.”

The terrorists behind this attack will be held accountable according to international law, vowed the envoy.

Twenty-six civilians were wounded on Wednesday in a Houthi attack that targeted the arrivals hall at the Abha International Airport.
