Saudi authorities have foiled an attempt to smuggle 14.4 million amphetamine pills from Lebanon.

A spokesman for the General Directorate of Narcotics Control said the pills were professionally concealed in in steel plates and seized in Jeddah.

A citizen was arrested in Riyadh for his involvement in the crime.

Interior Minister Prince Abdulaziz bin Saud bin Nayef said the Kingdom is fighting drug smuggling with firm security measures.

It is constantly developing is expertise to deter the criminal gangs that are also developing their methods to smuggle their illicit substances, he added.

“We are joining international efforts aimed at limiting their threat,” he stressed.
