
Saudi Arabia announced its support for the UN Integrated Transition Assistance Mission in Sudan (UNITAMS) with the donation of $1 million.
The donation aims to enable the mission to activate its programs, support the political transition process, implement peace agreements, protect civilians, ensure the rule of law, and provide and coordinate economic, developmental, and humanitarian aid.
A meeting was held between the representatives of Saudi Arabia, the United States, Britain, and the UAE to Sudan, with the head of the UN Mission, Volker Perthes.
During the meeting, the representatives lauded the implementation of the "Juba Agreement" to support the Sudanese government and UNITAMS.
The statement indicated that the attendees discussed the outcomes of the Paris Conference to support Sudan and affirmed the vital role of the International Monetary Fund, the World Bank, and the supporting countries in relieving Sudan's debts.
They asserted the conference's role in enabling Sudan to move forward, restore its international position, and support the transitional government to achieve security, stability, and prosperity for the Sudanese people.
The four countries affirmed their commitment to achieving lasting peace in Sudan, implementing the reform agenda, and providing assistance to Khartoum. They emphasized the importance of Khartoum's leadership of a just and comprehensive peace process.
They also lauded the transitional government's steps to implement economic reform.
The statement asserted that, with adequate support, the UN mission would fulfill its mandate to support the government achieve peace and stability in Sudan.
